And The Champ Is Paul D!
The
HMFL concluded its spring 2003 season with a series of exciting playoff games
that in the end led to a familiar matchup with a not so familiar ending..
First
round games from the Roman Coliseum on 05/03/04 pitted Coach Frank and the
upset minded Stealers Vs Fall Champion Gabe and his Emmitts last dance tour
with the Cowboys..
Other
intriguing matches included Ben’s Saints who where fresh from rallying
for a playoff spot after starting the season 1-5 Vs Coach Durbin and his 49ers
in a matchup that earlier in the year was decided by a onside kick review
that reveled that the 49ers did not fumble the ball..
Also Coach Jordan and the Bucs matched up against the Eagle and Coach Roman in a game that was a highly anticipated rematch after the Bucs barley got passed the Eagles in the regular season….
In the first game of the day…..
The
49ers would show a glimpse of things to come as they held on to a early lead
to end the Saints Cinderella dance with destiny…
After
the Cowboys received an emotional WIN ONE FOR OL EMMITT from coach Gabe they
charged out and did just that against the Stealers who would be the first
of the day to learn first hand just how effective the Che coast offense can
be….
The Bucs and Eagles had all the build up of a Mike Tyson match at the MGM… But even though the Bucs sprinted out to a commanding lead at the start of the game the Eagles used the home house advantage to rally and fly out of reach of the disappointed Bucs who vowed to return in 04…
So
off to the Conference Championships the teams went…
Coach
Dave and his Patriots waited for the 49ers vowing to once and for all end
the streak of close losses to Coach Durbin…
The two teams went blow for blow for most of the game as Coach Durbin at halftime
announced that if he didn’t get anymore Crown and Coke he was going
to forfeit…The game was settled when championship Chan Bailey intercepted
a pass on the 3 yard line which lead to a 97 yard TD return to lead the 49ers
right back to the Super Bowl…
In
the main arena(AKA the 60 inch TV) Romans Eagles had trouble with Roy Williams
and the ever-persistent warrior DAT Nguyen… The Eagles put up the good
fight but in the end found themselves over whelmed by the Cowboys stifling
D and the elusive playcalling of coach Gabe…
The
Day was almost done and it was almost as if there was glitch in the Matrix
as a rematch of the two teams who had battled in the spring marched into the
Roman Coliseum (coach Romans TV) to do battle..
The game was a dead heat for the entire first half but in the second half
the niners would finaly get the break that they needed grabbing two INT’s
to pull away from the inspired Cowboys and win Coach Durbins 1st tittle in
three HMFL Superbowl appearances…
After the game coach Durbin took time out from happy hour to answer a few questions…
Reporter dude: Can you believe the luck you had in your title
run today?
Coach Durbin: nope
Reporter dude: Uh right can you expand on that?
Coach Durbin: sure, I really can not believe I got by the Saints Patriots
or Cowboys..
Reporter dude: Was it strange playing with the 49ers this
year?
Coach Durbin: Yes …I hate the 49ers about as much as the University
of Texas or Notre Dame, The Lakers, Yankees etc etc…
Reporter dude: What did you do special to prepare for the
playoffs today…
Coach Durbin: I drank a bunch of VO and ate pizza.
Reporter dude: Will you try to be back with the 49ers next
year.
Coach Durbin: Hopefully not.
Reporter dude: Will Coach Dave ever beat you?
Coach Durbin: Hopefully not.
Reporter dude: Do you believe that throwing it 2 tall Wr’s
will be as effective in 2004
Coach Durbin: Hopefully not.
